Half a year of chomping through the list of recommendations... WFH lunchtimes have helped ticked off a few recommendations.

Um great. Huge fan of a dark comedy. Although when the puppets got real gruesome eating lunch was a bit of a struggle.

A perfect piece of nautical escapism Loved meeting Vico Ritz through it and seeing Samson Kayo <3. I enjoyed how it subtly explored queer narratives, sex, gender and identity in the middle of a “bloodthirsty” pirate adventure. Enjoyed it even more when I found out it based on a real life character. Dominating WFH lunchtime at the moment and indulging my nerdy adolescent is
Rec: Adventure Time.

I never caught it when it was first out as didn’t have the various expensive online streaming access stuff. Joe would send a free link every now and again when he quoted a joke and was devastated I wasn’t in the know. It heavily influenced his characters, his drawings we used to make. Joe passed away in 2015, and as this July would’ve been his 30th and i suddenly found myself with access to Sky it felt right to finish it ff.
Rec: White Lotus, The Bear and Succession

I love the premise of a situational comedy. But somehow when it’s on the cards, I find myself barely able to hit the play button. Maybe it’s high levels of empathy or my ITSE personality trait to create harmony but watching them has me shouting at the screen, letting out high pitched nervous bark laughs, and walking around the space to get rid of the jitters. As it feels like I’m psyching myself up for an ordeal I often opt for ‘the binge’ techniuqe. White Lotus aced that feeling with flying colours. The Bear I was able to bare a bit more. Wish me well as I start with Succession.
Coupla first highlights were heading to Ronnie Scots Jazz club and getting some free/discount tix to 2 operas to see circus pals be brilliant at their thing. Rusulka and Akhnaten were definitely opposite ends of the opera scale. Particularly attracted to the wackniess of Akhnaten, blown away by the butoh style movement and the sound of a countertenor which I’d never experienced before.
